I am so excited to share with you this fabulous Haunted House makeover! I found this Cinderella princess castle on Facebook Marketplace for $10 and knew this would make the perfect haunted house.
Here is a list of items I used to create my transformation:
- Flat Black Spray Paint
- Blue painters tape (to tape off the gold railings)
- Halloween stickers
- Halloween props (mini pumpkins, skeleton heads, witch, ghost)
- Halloween twinkle lights
I loved the gold door and removed that for painting. I even painted the door knocker black too. Unfortunately, a few days after I completed the project, my 9 year old daughter broke the door off. UGH!!
It was a hot, windy day so I made sure to do the spraying inside my garage with the door open. It took about 1 full can of paint to cover the entire castle. I used flat black for a matte finish.
Look how amazing that gold door looks! I am still annoyed that it broke off, but you’ll see how I tried to spookafy the open doorway in the next few pictures.
I then purchased stickers on Amazon as I wanted to give it a Nightmare Before Christmas vibe. I found these stickers here
I also added cobwebs and the plastic ghost and witch figures that I found at Dollar Tree. The little pumpkins, ghost, and skull props I found at Target in Bullseye’s Playground. They were actually meant for a Halloween gnome garden. The pumpkin garland is a light up necklace that I also found in Bullseyes Playground.
I wasn’t quite ready to take it to my classroom as it’s so fun to look at! It’s quite the Halloween decor that’s one of a kind. So I put it up on my counter that people can see from the window as they pass by. It’s going to be hard to take it off to school for a few weeks, but I’m thinking it will be worth it when the kids see it!
For a fun night glow, I added purple twinkle lights.
So when you’re thinking of getting rid of an old dollhouse, think again! You can make your own unique haunted Halloween house!
